Laid-back
Within minutes of leaving Vientiane, we were in the countryside.
The scenery was similar to Thailand’s, with lush green rice paddies and golden wats.
But the pace was much slower. There were no speeding pickups or motorcycles. Even the monks got around on bicycles.
