Charcoal
Cooking is done on charcoal stoves and industrious ‘charcoal boys’ were busy day and night transporting it.
Their bikes were always overloaded yet they still managed to pedal up some of the hills. They even helped Grace push her bike up a few of the steeper inclines.
They aren’t they only fully-loaded professionals. Beer, bananas, outboard motors, baskets, water and even complete department stores are carried on top of back racks.
